LPE 211/219 cam question.

Does anyone have any experience with this cam. I believe with 1.6 rockers it has a lift of .533 .560. Lately I've read that some people would like to see more lift per the amount of duration a cam might have. Im still trying to pick a cam that would complement a set of Lloyd's heads and still pass Il. emissions.

Thanks, Rick

I ran this cam for about 4 years and absolutely loved it. Instant torque at low RPM and on the stock block there was a hint of lope but nothing you couldn't tell unless you were listening for it. It was great for the street races too due to it sounding stock. LOL
I still have mine and may use it again in the future. I like it too much to get rid of it.
With my setup I had that cam, LPE ported heads/intake/gears/Edelbrock shorty headers with the stock y-pipe and cats in place on BFG DR's and ran a 12.5 @ 110mph at a 700ft. ele. track. Getting rid of the shorties and going w/ long tube headers and offroad Y-pipe the car went 12.0 @ 115 at a sea level track.
Not saying you will have the same results but if you want stock idle quality as well as an excellent torque band then this cam is the best choice you can make. Yes the lift is .533/.560 w/ 1.6rr's.

i don't have this cam, but it's one i was considering till i got sticker shock. Seemed way too expensive to me for a cam, but i'm kinda on a tight budget. Maybe look at the GM ZZ3 and 845 cam, they are close and you might like them. Or if you want more lift(and it sounds like you do) get a custom comp XE grind.

The LPE cam 211/219 is a good cam ran it for about 2 years with no problems and it is very good idle with hardly any lope but the low end power was great .. I went with a bigger cam for more rpms but kinda miss the LPE cam it was alot more street friendly...I may switch back some day ...Need to find out what the new cam will do first..

So is the 845 cam light enough to pass emissions with tuning? I'm considering this cam now, but the only thing that sucks is that I've already installed Hotcam springs in preparation for a Hotcam, so they'd have to go..

I've seen a guy with the Comp 305 pass Ca smog with tuning so the 845 should be okay too.
I've been leaning toward the 845 too.

I had this cam in my 350 and loved it. Went with a bigger one when I stepped up to a 383. I still have the LPE and doubt I will ever use it in the 383 so if you're interested, email me privately.
