low coolant module sensor

anyone knows where i may be able to purchase a 93lt-1 low coolant sensor it turns on dashboard warning light. When coolant needs to be added. I've checked dealership and was told this item is no longer being made for that particular year. And yes i've tried the local auto parts as well. Do anyone know if a 94 version would fit in. Or does anyone know where i may be able to get access of one. your help and info would be truly appreciated. Thank you. joshua.

You need to check with more than just your local shops. How about Autozone, NAPA, etc.? Where are you anyway?

Well, I called a couple of places and all they show is a coolant temp sensor----no level sensor. So if you car actully has one and it is not working (as tested) I would either disconnect it if it continues to show low coolant when it isn't low, or (I know you don't want to do it) visit your local bone yard.

When ever you are showing a high temp, or your heater isn't working, etc. that should prompt you to check your coolant level.

Bad coolant level sensors are the norm for these lt1s, however, I believe you can still get one for the later models. I would advise removing the sensor and checking it against the newer model ones---better bring your level down before you remove it though. Good luck.

Just unplug the sensor and the light will go out. no need for the stupid warning light anyways.

Check Shoebox's website. He has info on the location of the low coolant sensor, photos, part #'s and sources with prices. If you haven't used his website, you are missing out on the best LT1 database on the 'net.

93 coolant level sensor.

I have a 93 Z-28. I can not find one at my local chevy dealerships or NAPA. I would like to know also if a 94 sensor can be made to work on the 93. Is the electric plug different on the 93 vs 94? Shoeboxe's pictures lists 3 models for these sensor's. The 93 model is no longer available at dealerships or NAPA. The other two have different connectors. Let us know if you find an answer. Thanks.

I looked up and compared the connectors for the sensor for 1993 and later years and they are the same. So, I think the later sensor (10096163) may work ok.

93 coolant level sensor.

Thanks shoebox. I saw that there was also an 8 way connector also. So, the 94-97 2 way connector and sensor may work in a replacement for our no longer available 93 sensor. Sure hope so. I will check it out further.

The parts book shows an 8 way connector, so that is why I listed it on the page. I have never heard of anyone ever having an 8 way connector, though.

93 coolant level sensor.

Thanks again shoebox. I will try and find a 94-97 sensor and compare it to my 93 one. I am installing a new radiator and wanted to install a new level sensor in my 93 buildup. I had gave up on using a new one . Now,I will check on the other one and buy it if it looks like it will work. I will let everyone know how it goes.
