Loss of power, flashes of light around plug area??

Is it time to replace the plugs and wires?? I know it's a tight fit down there, and I don't know exactly what the problem is. I can't tell if the problem is with the plugs, the wires or both. Any opinions appreciated. Also, what about the over the valve cover wires, any prices?? How hard is the install?

More than likely, your wires are worn out. If I were you, I'd just buy some stock replacements. I have the over-the-valvecover kit and I don't care for the way it looks. Engine bay looks much cleaner with the wires hidden.

Since you are asking how hard it is, I would recommend you have someone there with you when you replace them.

The light could also be coronal discharge. This is the light you see running through your wires and inside the ceramic of your plugs. This is normal, unless you see a spark outside of the wire. If I were you I'd get OVC wires. They're so much easier to work with when it comes to burning wires with headers.

Installing OVC wires is easy. I love mine and just bought the kit from Thunder Racing for $99. I like the way they look. Plus I'm used to all my friends' 5.0 Mustangs with the wires all on top coming from the distributor. Plus OVC wires makes changing them extremely easy like 94GreenZ28 said.

Well what I saw was flashes of greenish blue light between where the plug meets the boot. I figured I'd pop the hood tonight and have a look after I noticed the power loss. Any other ideas on what it could be??
