loss of power

my camaro today had a sudden loss of power on the freeway. it was like i had the choke on a carb. all the way open. (i know it is fuel injected) like the car was getting too much fuel. i pulled over i walked around.. there was no exhaust coming out the tailpipe. a funny noise roaring noise coming from filter box when i revved it up. and after a few minutes it ran hot. the car will barely run. not even enough power to pull it up on the trailer. some one please help i am stranded with no ride

Re: loss of power

Textbook clogged cat, the only thing missing is the "Red glow from the exhaust system", if this had happened at night he would most likely be telling us he saw it glowing on the passenger side,

Re: loss of power

Sounds like a clogged cat to me also. Rev the **** out of it and it might blow itslelf out like my buddys '96 trans am ran like a raped ape after it let out a huge cloud of dust from the exhaust. Disconnect the exhaust and see if it runs any better. 10-1 says its the cat.

Re: loss of power

by any chance did you have a rattling from your exhuast before this happened?

but ya... if it is the cat either rev the **** out of it and hope it blows out like mine did going to the track one day... or take a hammer to it untill everything breaks up then rev everything out...

thats only if you dont feel like taking the y-pipe off and hammering it out.
