agreed, I might even call the $450 stuff a tossup compared to stock.
You want better for sure I would start looking at the $650 or so Compstar stuff.

People ASSume stock means weak and they would be wrong.

On the plus side any aftermarket is probably going to be lighter, the stocker is like 62lbs.

A "lite weight" aftermarket will be 42-48lbs, and cost extra, the normal aftermarket crank will be say 52-58lbs., a stocker as I said is like 62lbs.

Just going aftermarket and you will get a liter one without going "lite weight".

Why are you worried about going aftermatrket? The stocker is quite good.

Why do you feel you need a new crankshaft?

ok what happend is i bought a crank off eBAY bc my old one what not straigth or i was told that it was not and then i bought one off ebay i asked the guy if it was for a 93 to 97 lt1 and he said yes and i put in in my rebuild and all that stuff and i go to put the timming cover on and the the part that comes out is that you put the blancer on is smaller than the hole on the thimmimg chain cover so i think it is a crank for a older lt1

you know it seals on the balancer right? not the crankshaft.

The timing gear fit on the shaft right?

The stock LT1 crankshaft has a key cut into it for the damper hub. But the stock LT1 damper hubs do not have a keyway or a key.

Yeah the stock key on an lt1 crank ends right where the crank gear ends for the timing set. if your crank has a key in it just give it a couple of sharp raps with a hammer to unseat it and then pry the key out. OR just get your hub keyed, or buy an ati.
