Longer rocker arm studs for guideplates

Buddy of mine is thinking about upgrading to a 1.6RR (Comp Mag 3/8") on his LT1, they are non-self aligning therefore he should get a set of guide plates for them. He is going with the Trickflow TFS-30400623-8 guide plates. I read somewhere previously that you need a longer length stud due to the length used by the guide plate. What rocker arm studs are people using for this application?

Thanks in advance

Also, if buying new rocker arms, always upgrade to 7/16 studs and arms.

Do the 3/8" studs tend to have issues? Or does it just make for a more 'stable' valvetrain?

Significantly more stable valve train at rpm. Check out Engine Masters, they did a comparison with clear valve covers.

The 7/16” rocker studs are more stable. Higher valve spring pressure, more aggressive lobe ramps, higher lift, and higher RPM may make the 3/8” studs unstable. Cheap insurance. Alternatively, you could use a stud made of stronger steel (e.g. chrome moly)

Interesting notes on stud selection:

Great info, I'll have him keep that in mind.
