I had some of the older Pacesetter shorties awhile back. The coating on them stunk and was rusty within a year. Some of the QC wasnt to good on them either. I had to grind alot of burrs and slag off of them before I installed them. But for the money like $299 back them for some coated shortied with y-pipe was worth it. I got a good power increase with them.

I now run Hooker LT's with a Mufflex y-pipe. Mine have rust on them in spots but are also 5+ years old but are still solid.

If you dont want the collector gaskets to blow out, buy some of the aluminum re-useable. I am still on my original set and I have had them on and off a few times and they still seal perfectly.

My PaceSetters are going on 3 years here soon and there is no rust except where they have scrapped from my car being lowered.

The damn gaskets on those 3-bolt style blow out too much IMHO.
Couldn't agree more, the pacesetters are nice for the price, not to much money but seems as though quality is there, but wait! The gaskets I got with my pacesetters LT's are total crap, I'm not sure that this is always the case but my LT's came with the worst gaskets made I think. They are like made out of some kind of paper, so I bought some nice copper gaskets. Just letting ya know, peace.

The quality on the Pacesetters is great. Most people that have had issues with them got them years ago when they first came out before they revised the design. I put my coated PS LTs on 3 years ago now and they went on REALLY easy, plug access is great, ground clearance is as good as it gets, and the coating still looks brand new. The only mistake Pacesetter made is selling them for alot less than the competitors, everyone thinks they are somekind of "budget" header because of it. Its funny how all these people shy away from them only because they are less expensive, I guess its not "cool" to say you have Pacesetter LTs.

I bought a wrecked T/A once that had Jet Hots on it. Plug access was horrible. One of the primarys comes apart to go around the steering shaft, that slip fit joint had been leaking quite a bit. I had the motor out of the car still bolted to the Kmember sitting on my garage floor. Even then, it was an absolute b*tch to get those headers off. I could have R&R'd my PS LTs IN THE CAR in less time then it took just to remove these JetHots OUT OF THE CAR.

As far as coating on the Pacesetter headers, Jet Hot Inc. does the coating for them.

I don't know, my Pacesetters are three years old and the welds were crappy, there was weld splatter all over the place, the EGR fitting did not line up, and the coating started to rust in less then a years time. Maybe you got lucky with your set.

I already knew Pacesetter supplied those crap paper gaskets with their headers. That is why when I ordered the headers from Summit, I ordered a pair of Felpro 1406s as well.

Maybe, I got the "race" versions with no EGR/AIR and live in AZ where there is no rust.

My car never sees rain or snow, but I guess moisture in the air maybe. Who knows. As for the EGR, it was mainly an issue of it colliding with the tranny dipstick. I really believe these headers were only prototyped around a manual tranny car. I had to heat up the fitting and bend it a good inch in the firewall direction. Problem solved. Frankly, the issues aren't a big deal to me. The EGR was a simple enough fix. As for the rusting and weld splatter, the f-body engine bay is so cramped up anyway that they aren't too terribly noticable.

Plug access with my Jet Hot headers and y pipe is pretty good. However, they rattle, and hit the floorboard, and hang pretty low.

I'm going to give the jet hots the benefit of the doubt though, and assume its due to my motor mounts needing replacement.
