Re: lil question

If you had an occurance with the old solenoid that caused charcoal to be pulled into it, you would have needed to purge the hose from the canister before putting on the new solenoid. Otherwise the new solenoid would get clogged from the old residue.

Re: lil question

How did charcoal get in the lines in the first place...I'd suspect that the charcoal canister is bad (only source for charcoal).

Re: lil question

If the old EVAP solenoid was hanging open and allowing full vacuum at times to the canister, then it will suck charcoal out of it. I don't exacly know how to tell if a canister is bad.

Re: lil question

not to hijack the thread, but if you remove the EGR and AIR can you remove the EVAP canister and solenoid too? I'm not exactly sure what they do other than expel fuel vapor or something, but is that important?

Re: lil question

The canister captures fuel vapors to they don't enter the environment. The purge solenoid opens to allow the collected fuel vapor to be burned in your engine, as part of the normal fuel calculation. In effect, it reduces fuel odor at the rear of your car, and should actually improve fuel mileage a tiny bit. Does not hurt performance in any way, unless you manage to saturate the canister with fuel.

Oh ok thanks. I'm just always looking to remove unnescessary things like ABS, AIR, EGR, the donkey dong, and stuff like that.
