le3?

Would the le3 package work for a stock bottom end? If anything at least make it work on a forged 355?

Re: le3?

It's ideal for a forged 355. Stock bottom end cars won't take the high RPM thrashing the LE3 dishes out.

I'm running LE2 heads with an LE3 cam on a forged 355 (stock GM crank though, lightened/balanced)

Re: le3?

The le3, le2 cams rev pretty high. The 3 will spin 6800 rpms(give or take a few) and the 2 cam is around 6500. The stock bottom end isn't going to live too long at those rpm's. The bottom end doesn't need to be forged but it will take more abuse, hold up longer and withstand a decent shot of juice if your heart desires. So if your pocket book allows at least grab some forged pistons and rods. Cast cranks have done the job for many guys, but again if your pocket book allows pick up a forged one. Good luck, plenty of guys have been layin down great numbers with llyod's stuff.

Yeah the LE3 is a built bottom end only type package. The LE2 is about as much as you want to put on a stock bottom end. As for building a bottom end a 4 bolt block is what I would look for before I put a forged crank in something.

Yes it's a great package for a 383, more valve size always helps with larger cubes, plus the cam is already used on 383s a lot.

But on which one will it perform better 355/383?? you see I have the LE3 package but don't know on which set up to go with, If I go 355 it will see lots of juice 200+shot fully forged. If I go the 383 route I would run less nitrous, I want mid to low 11's n/a which will get me there?

Re: le3?

the cars set up will have more to do with what engine it works better on. If it is track results you are after, here is a good way to chose.

1 - 3.73/4.11 gears, 3000 or more stall, 3600 lbs (or less) and a 6500-6800 RPM shift RPM will be the a car built for a 355.

2 - less gear, less stall, more weight and a lower shift RPM is a better car for the 383.

If you are after a good running street car with good drivability and good acceleration everywhere while having a lower shuft RPM, the 383 is usually a better choice for that type of car.

The 383 builds more TQ to work with the 2nd type of car and the 355 will have a lil less low and mid range TQ but rev and pull to a higher RPM. The light car with more gear/stall is easier to accelerate so the loss of TQ is not as big of a deal and the extra pull above 6000 RPM usually makes the car faster.
