LT1 383 LE3 with nitrous, but???
LT1 383 LE3 with nitrous, but???
Ok I plan on making a 383 LT1 and am going to get this stroker kit http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/produ...02&CtgID=12062
Now it shows the compression ratio to be 9.2 with a 58cc head, but it seems that no one nows exactly what the cc is on a stock LT1 head. So is it ok for me to go ahead and buy that stroker kit and get the LE3 and a nitrous cam package from Lloyd and I think he can tell me what the exact cc of the new ported head is right? After that could I just adjust the thickness of my head gasket to get what ratio I want. Could I get a gasket thin enough to bring me back up to like a 10:1 ratio. Speaking of ratio what is a good compression ratio for a 200-250 shot of nitrous even if I am adding more horsepower before the nitrous is even added with the LE3 kit. Thanks for any help.

Re: LT1 383 LE3 with nitrous, but???
Stock LT1 heads are 52-54cc. Compression really doesn't matter with nitrous. I run 11.1:1 with a 200 shot. Getting the compression back to 10:1 will be no problem. Could you not just look for a package that has a different piston though?
Re: LT1 383 LE3 with nitrous, but???
Ok I found the piston I can use but it is the SRP and not the JE piston http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/produ...599&CtgID=8206
It is from the same website, maybe they can switch me the pistons with the kit I want. I know I will have to go with the 5.7 rod but that is fine with me. It shows to be at 10.4 at 58cc so if ours is 54cc it will be about 10.8 if I am correct. This will work for me but does anyone know where I can get this exact same piston but with JE instead of SRP? I know they are the same company but the JE is stronger if I am not mistaken.

Re: LT1 383 LE3 with nitrous, but???
I definately agree with the others. The compression ratio is way too low. Look for a different engine setup. Go with flat top pistons as Bret said. IMO you should go with a 383 11.5:1 cr with 5.6 rods so you can maintain thick ring glands on your pistons. With Lloyd heads and cam you should make 420 rwhp easy on motor.
