lack of oil pressure

I have searched and read through many oil pressure threads but can't really find what I want. I have an engine with 140k miles on the bottom end, then like 2k on the new heads and cam install. I can't seem to get more than 40psi of oil pressure when the car is warm, I only have like 43ish when it starts up cold. At idle I have like 18ish...I tried swapping to 20w-50 just to see if it made a difference and it didn't. Im pretty concerned about spinning a bearing or something since even up at 6k i don't get more than 40psi of oil pressure. Any ideas?

Yeah...I dislike that idea...although I suppose it beats a new motor, right? In order to access the oil pump what do I need to do, drop the k-member, take out the oil pan and replace the oil pump? Would I have to take off the intake manifold to get to the oil pump drive thing in the back thing?

Stupid oil pumps.

It's not really required...just make sure you keep everything clean. You could get away with lifting the motor up a little by removing the engine mount bolts and then getting someone to help, then dropping the pan makes life a lot easier. You only need to lift the motor up 4-6 inches for perfect clearance.
