Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Hey Chuck,

What would the cost be of a Mild Steel 1-3/4 header with Emissions fittings? I am having a hard time justifying the price but I do want a quality built header. Am I being paranoid? Should I just get the Stainless and be done with it? You know this wouldn't be a problem if someone would just buy me a Saleen S7. sheesh....

The price on mild steel, straight, uncoated, would be 530.95. To me I'd never buy anything but stainless for my personal car. Seen a lot of headers, and stainless headers always stay nice no matter what. They're the way to go in my opinion...

So when will these be available through your site, Chuck? Either that or please tell me how else I can order them. Thanks

Well right now nothing is really on our site. We're still building it. But you can call us to place the order. My word from Kooks was that the headers were all shipping out yesterday!

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Since these are generally made for use on higher output engines, ie heads and cam or strokers, would there be any adverse affects in using them on a full bolt on car that has future plans for more? Adverse meaning not enough backpressure, etc. or would they be ok to use for this purpose for the time being. I would like to only have to buy headers once. I hope to be able to get them by summer.

Since they're stepped from 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 they should work great for a bolt on car without any problems. Still have the velocity of 1 3/4 off the head, with the flow of the 1 7/8 downstream.

Sounds good. My insurance check should be coming soon so hopefully I'll be placing an order within the next month. One more question: Can you give a guestimate as to how much more power should be made with these headers than with a standard 1 3/4" long tube design? Just wondering what I can expect.

EDIT: Please answer based on the few mods that are in my sig.

Keeping in mind I haven't seen these new headers, let alone dyno'd them, I can't give you an exact guess on what it'll make. But I would guess we're talking anwhere between 10-15 more than your normal straight 1 3/4 headers. Could be more, coult be less. But that is a conservative guess that I would probably expect..

Good deal. Any gain is a good gain. One thing is for sure, they will be one hell of a lot better than stock manifolds. No wonder the LS1s run away from LT1s. As a comparison (appearance wise) an LS1 is like normal breathing and an LT1 is like trying to breathe through a straw.
