On our car it very likely was 40-50 hp, because we were using 1 3/4 hookers with a 3" collector before, and switched to 1 7/8 x 2 w/ a 3 1/2" collector. That's a big jump, and one that definitely helps on a car with a 250 shot... And it was an LS1, not an LT1. Not trying to confuse the facts here. I was just pointing out earlier how important exhaust flow is on nitrous cars.

According to Nick @ Kooks, ground clearance is a none issue. And plug access is average. He did say when they designed the headers, they tried as much as possible to give the maximum access to the plugs they could. So they should be better than most. But it's still an LT1 and the plus will still be somewhat difficult to change.

As for the pics. I'll try to get pics from him asap.

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

I have a question........Would the 3-1/2" collector be hurt by using a 3" Borla Cat-back? In other words, does the remainder of the exhaust system need to remain 3-1/2" to remain effective?

Thx,

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Would there be any disadvantages to ordering these headers on a full bolt-on car as opposed to regular 1 3/4" LT's? I would like to get these when I do my headers as I would rather buy headers once than later down the road when I go heads and cam.

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Here's the pictures I promised of the headers. The headers pictured appear to be 3" collectors w/ the air/egr provisions... All the headers I have on order are race headers, that will have 3 1/2" collectors, and no egr/air provisions. If anybody would like differently, please let me know. The first shipment should be here in about 3 weeks...

More than likely not. But they will be making a straight 1 3/4 version for those on a budget, and who do not need the 1 7/8 step.

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Those DO look like very nice headers if you absolutely MUST have every last HP available, but man, look at that plug access for 5,6, and 8. OMFG! What a horror story trying to change/read plugs between rounds..

Must pass on these. While I could certainly use the flow, the frustration trade-off wouldn't be worth it for me..

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

6 and 5 look like the only real bad ones to me, Should be easy from the bottom if he has the headers reaching out as far as possible from the header flange.

I worked on a guys car the other day with a set of dynatechs and they were pretty horrible compared to mine.

Hookers are pretty easy and cheap. Only if they had stainless. I drive my car too much in every type of weather and worry about crap rusting out and leaking due to it as most others do not.

I would like a 1 3/4 straight pair with no provisions for emissions if they would be a bit cheaper.
Chuck any idea what these go for in the straight version with no frills on them??

Yes, they'll probably be 778 for straight 1 3/4 stainless...

Re: Kooks new LT1 Headers!!

Is there a price difference for emissions and non emissions, Can you get just o2 bungs on them. Will they make these to order or are they just running a lot and then selling them till the run out and then running a lot again.

Other question I had was will they put on a three bolt flange at the end of the collector for ease of breaking down the exhaust?

Guess I could just call and quit bugging you.

Yes, they come in a "race" version that has only the o2 bungs. And no there is not a price difference.. Kooks usually makes the headers per order, so whatever you want, we should be able to get, assuming we don't already have it in stock..

As for the flange. Probably not, but i'll find out..
