knowledge request

somebody please let me in on some hints dealing with plug wires. i have ruined two wires on the passenger side already (1 week) the MSD wires are dangerously bigger than the stockers and im having trouble finding a place to rout them without putting them in harms way. any help would be MUCH appreciated.

With stock manifolds, you don't have many choices with routing locations. Maybe you should invest in a set of headers, and kiss your plug wire issues goodbye with an over-the-valve-cover kit?

If not, all I can suggest is that you go ape with zip-ties and fire-sleeves.

Do you have headers or manifolds?
I have MSD wires and LT headers. I run the passenger side wires through the bracket except for #2 which I run in the stock location behind the PS pump.
I put convoluted tubing over the wires so they would not get damaged from rubbing on the bracket.
I have almost 3k miles on my setup so far and not one burnt wire.
Run them away from header or manifold heat and use Zip ties to keep them in place.
Its not hard to keep wires from burning you just need to pay close attention to routing.

its just really hard because i cant see or reach the stock routing path, behind the steering pump. even with the car on a lift and one of the fans removed, i have a hard time getting in there.

Yes it can be a real pain trying to get your hands in there, the very first time I changed plugs and wires it took me 2 days.
Just be patient and maybe remove the alternator to give you some more room.

OVC will not work with manifolds.
Its not that difficult to get the wires routed just get in there and get r done.

I am not familiar with shortys, I have LTs, but I would think the OVC would work fine with shorty headers.
