knock sensor removal ?

I flushed the radiator today and went by the instructions on shbox's site and they recommend removing the knock sensor and block plug as well. I removed the knock sensor, but no water/antifreeze came out. I couldn't get to the block plug. anyways even with the system refilled I get no water comming out of the hole. Whats the deal?
Thanks
-Rob

It must be block with gunk. Push something in the hole and clear it out.

Oh, and get ready for a coolant bath.

I'm also noticing up to 10deg knock retard just reving the engine in park. does the same in drive when taking off from a stop. wonder if not having the sensor in water is messing with the sensor?

Probably not, I'm pretty sure the knock sensor picks up vibrations from the block.

FYI: It is important to not tighten the KS too tight, or it can retard the timing.

Definitely a problem, and probably the cause of the knock retard. If you have solid sludge packed into the space between the cylinder walls and the sensor, you are transmitting every vibration in the engine directly to the sensor, which is nothing more than a tiny piezo microphone. I saw a tiny piece of silicon seal get lodged in the end of a knock sensor, and cause a large amount of knock retard.
