Knock Sensor / Block Drain Plug
I tried draining and refilling my coolant yesterday. Before doing so, I naturally went to shoebox's website to check out the step-by-step procedure. I can't seem to find the knock sensor or block drain plug that he mentions should be removed when fully draining the coolant. I'm a newbie at repairs and just bought my Z about a month ago. Has anyone had this problem before or am I the only dummy here?
Thanks.
Thanks.
The knock sensor is at the bottom of the block, passenger side, right behind the motor mount. Shoebox has a photo of it on his website. The drain plug for the drivers side is in the same position, and will have a pipe plug in it, rather than the knock sensor.

Tell me about it. I see in your pictures that you took, you stated that the fan assembly was removed. Do you recommend removing it in order to get easier access to the plug and sensor? You also say to keep the car on level ground, so I assume putting it on ramps would be out of the question to make removing the plug and sensor slightly easier.
You can put it on ramps or jackstands to remove it, then lower it back down to make sure all of the coolant is drained. I believe that's why he said to keep it level and that's what I do for my oil changes.
