kind of an emergency rounded out bolt

I just severly rounded out a bolt on my rear diff cover. It is the top left one so i cant drill it out. Does anyone know what i can do to get the dang thing out?
It is a 1/2'' and my 1/2'' rachets no longer grab it. I tried using some different tools with no luck. This is the last bolt and i already spilled all my fluid.

take the smallest possible socket metric or standard(12pt if you got one)that will barely NOT fit on the bolt and heat the bolt up until it's glowing red, hammer the socket on the nut and try it that way.... if that fails

heat the bolt up til it's glowin red and take a hammer or air hammer with a flat end chisle and hit it on the side in and the direction that the bolt needs to turn in.. for ex..if the bolt needs to turn left then hit it on right hand corner of the bolt in the upward direction while it's still hot (if the chisle starts to gouge the metal thats even better because it will leave a slot to help turn the bolt) i hope thats not to difficult to understand.. ive had to work on cars where bolts are stripped and i get them out that way all the time...

thanks for the quick response. I got it off. I will get a torch so i can have it for next time so i can do your trick. I ended up hammering a 12mm socket onto it and then using that. The screw wont come out of socket but thats ok.

no prob, thats what i do all the time... put the screw into a vise and take a screwdriver and hammer it out.. or take a hammer and hit the end of the socket where the screw is and it should come out that way....

Vise Grips work great if there is access. Craftsman makes a set of sockets that are made to remove rounded off bolts.
I haven't used them but they look like they have cut grippers on the inside to dig into the bolt head so you can ratchet them out.
