killing fuel pumps

I have a 97 lt1 camaro I am killing my fuel pumps. I have gone through 3 fuel pumps in 300 miles. The first 2 were walbro 255 the last one was a aeromotive. The last one I put in was put in also with hard wiring it to the ignition and installing aeromotive fuel pressure reg and new 44 lbs injectors. The car runs fantastic for about a tank of gas then takes a ****. Anyone have any ideas on what to look for or where to go from here im at a loss.

mines doing the same thing, blowing through 255lph walbro's. Setup is OEM reg on 36lb injectors.

I'm going to try and keep the unit cool by keeping a full tank of gas.

Re: killing fuel pumps

are you running the tank below quarter tank? Most aftermarket pumps don't respond very well to it. You wanna at the least stay over a quarter tank. I try to stay over half. The fuel in the bucket keeps the pump cool.

Stock pumps handle running the tank dry better than aftermarket pumps. Though that does seem a bit excessive to burn em up that fast.

Re: killing fuel pumps

Might be a short or faulty wiring.

The fuel filter is new flows great cant find any kinks in any lines and when each pump goes in they run great 42lbs of pressure at the rail constent until i go about a 100 miles then it has a very hard time cold starting a couple of times then it just dies completly.

Re: killing fuel pumps

Have you checked the voltage at the fuel pump harness connector?

Re: killing fuel pumps

Are the socks gummed up when you remove the busted pumps? What about the fuel filter?

Re: killing fuel pumps

harness is good the fuel pump is hard wired into the ignition with an inline fuse and relay and the fuel is spotless and the socks still look brand new
