If it makes you feel any better, the new cobras running more boost with the pulley and pcm recal dont stand up for long. I just quoted a guy at the ford dealer I work at on a set of pistons for his 04 with 15Kms on it. He was running the pulley, recal, exhaust and cai, oooops broke a piston and no warranty. He was making 445hp at the wheels according to him with around 15 lbs of boost though. Those kind of numbers, runs smooth and sounds stock but goes like hell, have to respect that and they aint bad cars really. I wouldnt mind one.

actually i think the auto is slower from a roll, which is why when you raced from a stop it was more respectable. manual from a roll owns.

 

there is a cobra around here putting 600 to the wheel....dont think he runs unless there is $ involved.... I dont kow of but 2 lt1's around here that can take him....if you run him, better pack your lunch.

all this talk about our beloved small blocks getting handed to us i have to interject some light, i took on a what seemed like modded GT "mighta just looked fast" but i took him to right outside of second gear and as i hit thrid started pulling away so i take that as a win, had to slow down because escape and evade was in order for the speed trap about 1/2 mile down the road

gt's have differnt motors than cobras... and there's still the problem that this thread isn't about you beating some random mustang and how much we care about it.

 

dont feel bad about losing to that stang...that **** is quick. instead when u get a rebuild dont forget to forge it out and put a huge shot on it afterwards...then show that worm wuts up.

You have to admit the new Cobras are fast but I think they should be compared more to a Corvette. Against a Mustang or GT our Z's are real fast and pretty close. I do have a friend with a 89 Mustang 342 stroked not even a ford block anymore big supercharger heads ported and flowed all dynoed and setup by Larocca performance in NJ 667 HP at the rear wheels. OK so the guy with the most money wins LOL but he cant catch my bike. 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa GSXR 1300, with a turbo they can push 700 HP at the rear wheels and weigh in at about 500 Lbs

 

what about those whole redesigned 05 mustang GT's? are they quick? i havent even seen a cobra in that body style yet.

 

The new 05 mustangs arent that quick. I have already beaten a couple. I have heard that they are coming out with cobras next year. There is alredy a roush in my town but havent been able to race it yet.i

 

That's not a production truck and the Lightning runs 8Psi Stock. Right about the same as the SIlverado.

 

Actually to get techinical they made about a 100 which were all sent to austraila...Honeslty Your gonna need alot to hang w/ a stock 03..Probably all the bolt ons and a cam and you'll probably still loose...and a small few mods to them and their in the 425-450 rwhp range which for a LT1 to hit is gonna need alot of work...If it was a 01 all the bolt ons and you should be running w/ them

 

a minor bolt on street car thats a M6 but with 4:56 gears and reprogramming the rev limiter to 6500 would tear his *** up in road races. gotta have some nitto drag radials or somethin though. dev not a highway vehichle though.

people dont use big gearing as an advantage much, it does make your car a whole different animal.

 

The 05 GTs are quick, faster than an 01 cobra or the newer mach1 (drive them all the time at the ford dealer I work at). After driving my stock 97 SS, the mustang sure feels more responsive and quicker all around. I dont know how I would do against one but Ill line one up against my 97 and get back to you.
