I've tried everything and still can't get my fans to turn on

I've been trying to get my fans to come on all week and I've plain run out of ideas. I tried replacing the relays, didn't work. I put in a new fan sensor, that didn't work. The fans come on with the a/c, so I know they're good. Any ideas? I can get the fans to come on by turning on the a/c, so the car is still driveable, but its starting to get cold now and I need them to come on on their own. Thanks alot.

Oh, and sorry about the idiodic post about the low coolant light. I was in such a hurry that I didn't even see the same question right below mine.

Wire them direct with a toggle switch.

Put a paperclip in the two connections of the OBDI plug if it is in fact OBD1.

Yep, it overheats with the a/c off. Kind of counterintuitive. I've never seen just how far it will go, but I will get up close to the red line, then I'll either shut it off or turn on the a/c, only while idleing, not while moving.

If I put in a direct toggle switch, will they stay on all the time? Are there any disadvantages to them staying on all the time if that is the case?

No sense in making them stay on all the time. You need to do more troubleshooting, instead of just replacing things. Get it hooked up to a scanner so you can see what the computer is telling the fans to do. There is info on testing the cooling system on my Tech Page (How To #13).

It would be helpful when asking for help to provide some info, like year, make, trans, etc. A short signature would be good.
