Intermittent sluggish start 95 LT1

Okay, so since I did the head gaskets, optispark, wires, plugs, etc, the car has been running excellent.

However....

After I drive the car for awhile, and then shut it off for a bit, and then restart it, the engine is very sluggish, at low RPM's, almost like it is flooded. After a quick tap of the gas, the problem goes away. If I let it sit for an extended period of time, I don't seem to have the problem.

Could it be a faulty injector? I used PCcomm to scan it, as that is the only freebie software I can find that works with this 95 car. The only thing it came up with was an EGR fault. Checked all vacuum, and stuff to the EGR, and all appears to be fine.

Thanks in advance!

The EGR dumps exhaust gases into the intake manifold at cruise, never at idle or full throttle. If the EGR sticks open you;ll really notice it off the line. Try this

With the engine off, reach back and press the diagphram of the EGR. It should move smoothly and return smoothly. If it's sticky or rough feeling then pull it off...it's a couple of 13mm nuts...and take a look at the pintle. If it's carboned up then try cleaning it and reinstalling.

Seriously, you can't ingnore a fault just because it loks OK. Sometimes the simplest things will keep you looking for hours.

Good luck!

There is a big difference diagnostically between a DTC 27 and a DTC32. Which one was yours?

They are 1/2", not metric. Gotta keep you straight, Mr. Hunter.

I believe it was a 32 code.

Today, I drove it for over 100 miles, parked it for about 3 hours for my daughters ice hockey game, and then drove it home another 100 miles. I was impressed, I averaged about 20 MPG.... LOL

Did not have any issues.....

Then I drove it to my friends, shut it off, and then about 10 minutes later, restarted it, and had the issue. I am sure the code is stored in there, so I will pull it tomorrow, and post it here. I am almost certain it was a 32. I thought the EGR system doesn't report to the ECM on these cars, how would that effect performace. Also noticed my knock count that was 0 was at about 1700 yesterday when I did the scan...

Next time before you run it, pull and plug the vac line from the EGR valve. See if the problem goes away.
