Intake oil leak, a question....
Intake oil leak, a question....
I'm going to do this tomorrow. In the manual and some people even on here have said to pull the fuel rail. I've looked around under the hood, and I really can see what pulling the rail is going to do besides take more time. If you don‘t pull the fuel rail can you not get the intake off or something???

I would pull the whole intake as a unit. All you need to do is disconnect the fuel rails from the supply line with a tool.

Got it done. Took me about 5 hours. I did have to pull the fuel rail. The back two bolts would have ben hard to get at with the torque wrench. I just hope it wasn't the rear main that was leaking. I'm pretty sure it was the intake beacuse there was oil on the back of the head on the passenger side.
WOULD THIS WORK. instead of using just RTV or supplied silicone, do you guys think it would work if you made a gasket from neoprene for the china walls and still used the RTV with the new gasket, would this be the answer to all leaks from the walls.
what do ya think?

If goign to use RTV use a center punch and make small dimples on the intake and top of the block...(not where the intake touches the heads you'll be useing a gasket their). This is what the GM garages around here do to keep the RTV from sliding out once it sets up.
