intake ??
intake ??
will porting and polishing the stock intake do anything, will i see any power gains, seal needs replacing anyways. this is on stock LT1. also would it be worth getting a new ignition box would that help me out any, reason being i know someone one selling one a decent price, thanks
On a stock LT1, a ported&polished intake manifold and a ignition box are not good starter mods and will really be of no benefit until you add a cam and ported heads into the mix. Start with a cold air intake and some exhaust work if you want to gain some extra power.
Port and Polish is kind of an old term. I don't think anyone polishes intake ports any more, though they still polished combustion chambers. What your really asking about is port matching, where the outlet ports on the intake manifold and the inlet ports on the heads are machined to match so there are no restrictions to the air flow. At the same time, usually the valve pockets and combustion chambers are also done. And things like over size valves and springs are installed, a "racing" valve jobs is done, etc. in prep for a "bigger" cam.
