Installing new CAM in '93 Z
Installing new CAM in '93 Z
When installing a new CAM on a '93 is there any type of mods needed to complete this aside from timing chain, robs, rockers and springs? I recalled somewhere that you have to modify or converted the opti to a vented to fit the bigger chain on. Is that correct?
If you want to use a stock LT1 timing set again you can use the stock opti and timing cover.
If you want to switch to a LT4 heavy duty timing set you will need to use a new style timing cover and opti spark.
You can always put a Hotcam in a 93 F car with no problems, you will just need to cut the dowel pin down. My method to cut the dowel pin has always been to bolt a old timing gear to the cam and mark and cut the excess off.
Which ever way you go you should replace both gears and chain.

on the contrary
If you dont replace your rocker arms your cam will actually be smaller, the Lt-4 Hot Cam is designed to work with 1.6RR if you put it in your car with your stock 1.5's the cam will be smaller than stock
