installing a harmonic balancer....help
i have to reinstall my balancer and i figured to put it on just put it on and tightened down the center bolt ....well thats not working i am using a impact gun very strong .and still nothing .....any suggestions? thanks
Re: installing a harmonic balancer....help
Are you taking about the hub that holds the damper? This is an interferance fit part that needs to be pulled on the crank snout somehow. Using the crank bolt to pull the hub is just going to damage the threads in the crank, remeber these are fine threads.

As stated above, you're lucky you didn't strip the threads
In the future use a threaded rod. Thread the rod until it bottoms out in the crank snout. "Pull" the hub onto the crank snout by using a nut and washers (or a flat bearing) to tighten (pull) the hub into place. This will prevent stressing the threads in the crank.
