install height (cc306) 26918's

I just bought some ported heads and I need to install the valves but I want to make sure I don't mess up. Anyways, questions are, how do I measure install hight on the 26918's and how important is it. The springs were on my stock heads but they were milled VERY little (just a clean up job) and the valves I am using now are 2.00 & 1.60's. Will it be ok if I just install the springs the same way as I had them on the stock heads or will I need to use a mic? I would have a machine shop local do it but I researched and seen where the 26918's need a special mic. As you can tell I'm pretty much lost as to what I should do. The springs have ~10K miles on them by the way.

You need to mic the installed height regardless of what you do. There
is no problem using a regular mic, you will just adjust the reading by the
difference in height from the top of the mic to the first lip (which is where
the 26918 retainer will sit). I think mine is .150" but I'm just guessing.

You may also have longer valves which will be apparent when you mic the
first spring. The 26918s are designed for a 1.80" installed height so if your
valves are longer that's just fine. If your valves are stock length then you
will probably measure a much lower installed height. If this is the case you
should use the super lock retainers and +.050 super locks and you will be
close to 1.75" installed height (this is assuming you have a .060" spring seat).

If you find that you need a little bit of extra clearance on the spring, they sell different retainer locks +/-.050 that raise or lower the retainer to adjust the spring install height.

Let the shop do it,and do it right =all to the same seat pressure, they have the right tools if it's not a hole in the wall shop.
It will cost about what the mike costs, that you will probably use one time.

I did, and I'm glad I did. I feel a lot better about having someone who KNOWS what they're doing do it. It cost $60 to assemble them. Thanks for your advice everyone.

I had him set them up 125 and 310. I called comp and that's what they said the CC306 needed.
