Input please

Hello fellow fbody owners. I have a few questions about a set up my friend is selling to me at a good price. It is a 383 lt1 but I don't think he chose some good parts for some of the things.

What I would like to know, is do I need to pay to have it ripped apart to be made into a 4 bolt main? Second, what is the largest shot of NOS it can handle, not spraying all the time but once and a while. This is a street/strip/daily driver. I am on a budget, and do not want to spend a forture, mind you this engine is completly put together already so please give me some input. The parts are as follows:

Also, one more thing, this engine was measured at a 10.6:1 CR. So do I need to do anything to change that? Is it a good N/A or Forced Induction CR?? Etc..

Im wanting to run 150-200 shot, my ultimate goal is 600rwhp spray atleast 400 n/a with le2 or le3 setup later. What can I expect HP wise with this setup and all bolt ons with a dyno tune?

APPRECIATE ANY HELP!!

Eagle ESP Cast/Steel 3.750" Stroke Crankshaft

Re: Input please

Anyone have some input please? I have done some searching and got some input for similar things, but I wouldn't mind some fresh minds if possible. Thank you!

Re: Input please

The 4-bolt mains are "optional". But if you are serious about running 600rwHP on nitrous (hard to tell how that relates to flywheel HP, since you haven't told us anything about the drivertrain.... A4 or M6?) or with a blower, you'd be wise to upgrade. The cast/steel crank may also become a weak link at high boost or large shots of nitrous.

As far as compression ratio, 10.6:1 is fine (maybe even low) for nitrous or running NA, but its too high for a serious blower motor. You would want to drop the CR to 9.0-9.5:1 depending on the boost level.

The 6.00" rods and current pistons may not be the best choice for a "power adder" application. Typically, with high boost or large shots of nitrous you want to drop the ring pack out of the heat, and that puts the lower ring well into the pin area in a piston with small compression height. A 5.85" rod might be a better choice, although I suspect a lot of people have used the 6.00" rod with large shots of nitrous. Your ring clearances would probably need to be changed for high power adder HP.

Re: Input please

Sorry. The car is an m6. It will have a 9" in it with a good clutch once I find one.

No plans for blower or anything yet, but if the current setup could take like 8psi, i wouldn't mind throwing on a supercharger. What would have to be changed to accomodate that?

Do you think with that setup thrown in the car with a 200 shot to be used once and a while is over doing it with its current specs? What about 150 shot?
