Injectors Guru's inside!

I'm looking at getting 55# siemens deka injectors which are low impedience. What does low impedience mean??? And will these fit my LT1??

Re: Injectors Guru's inside!

They will "fit", but the stock PCM can not drive "low impedance" injectors. There is a "black box" conversion setup available that will allow the stock PCM to handle those.

"Impedance" is the electrical resistance of the electric coil in the injector that opens the injector up. The standard injectors in an LT1 are "high impedance", about 12-15ohms. Meaning that it only takes about 1 amp current to open them. A "low impedance" injector will have a resistance under 5ohms, and the "driver" in the computer needs to be able to handle the 5 amp "peak" that opens the injectors, then drop the current down to about 1 amp to "hold" the injector open.

You will need a box and good luck with tuning. Get a set of FMS 42's and be happy. Unless you are going to make 600+RWHP you will never need a bigger injector.

Re: Injectors Guru's inside!

Thanx for the info guys. What is this "black box" you speak of and where could I find one? 42#ers could probably get me through this year but I may have to upgrade after that.
