Im in trouble!!! I was replacing the cap and rotor and ran into a problem. HELP

Ok, so i pulled off the old cap and exposed the rotor. Like it should the rotor spun very freely as usuall. I took off the old one and put the new rotor back on and ran into trouble. The new rotor does not want to spin freely at all. It will spin but it hesitates. Im clueless. What could have happened and how can i fix it?

I hope you have the opti off. It sounds like a bearing that has a "catch" in it from wear, trash, rust.Put the old rotor back on and see if it's still there, bet it is. Probable shifted something (trash) that was loose in the housing and it got to a brg.
No opti expert but that's my guess.

If the rotor spins freely, that is your problem. It should be held still by the cam.

That's why I said I hoped he had it off.

Does it hesitate at each wire terminal? You should try to lightly sand down the terminals on the cap(assuming it is the old one). The built up corrosion could be hindering the rotor.
