ignition switch problems
I've had 4 switches in this car now; the last one barely lasted a month.
they all burn! the plastic's turning black, etc.
Somebody a while back told me the connector itself could be bad, making a bad contact, which in turn could create hot spots, etc and I think he's right.
now the question is how much work is it to change the connector?
I am tired to change the ignition switch; I'm almost ready to go with an on/off switch and a push button to start the car. Letting the alarm (it disables the engine) taking care of the security aspect.
changing that thing is a major pain, it looks like it was the first thing and they built the car around it...
I'm on the edge to have a dealer do it, so that I'd have a warranty on it and they'd have to fix the next few times it burns up
any ideas what I should do to stop this from happening?

You find an ACDelco supplier (or go to the dealer) and get pigtail part # PT289 to replace your burnt up blue connector and splice it in. It may have a couple more wires in it that the f-body does not use. Just ignore them or release the terminals and pull them out of the connector. The scenario of the loose connector is outlined in my ignition switch swap on my Tech Page.
