ignition problems

have any of your cars done this? when i turned on my car everything is fine and then ill turn it off and the ignition doesnt want to come out of the ACC poisition so i can't take my key out and then when i finally wiggle the key out the ignition doesnt budge at all its almost as if its frozen any sugeestions? thanks

Sounds like you need a new lock cylinder.

It would be nice to know some information on your car (signature), but for now, I'm going to assume it's an A4 and this may be a fix.

Before you start taking things apart try this first, its worked for me for the exact same problem three times now.

Put your car in neutral, and WHILE turning the steering wheel to the right push the car backwards until the steering wheel wont turn anymore.

Don't try to take the keys out yet, instead put the car in park and fire the car up, it should ignite now. THEN take out the keys.

check you shift **** usually over time this comes loose did you change this with a aftermarket ****? if so then thats your prob

I have a similar problem at times. My console is getting old and worn I guess because if I dont push the shifter into Park hard enough, it will not allow me to get the key out of the cylinder. A little extra nudge on the shifter and boom, the key comes out.
