Thumbs down Ignition problem?! (Kinda long.)

Okay, so here is the problem:

While I was working out in Kissimee, about 45 minutes away from my house, I always drove my 4Runner to work... I descided to bring the Z a couple weeks ago. I get there with no problems, she was running nice and strong.

Some of the other guys that worked with me wanted to see what's done to her, and hear her. They all drive rice, but all loved my car and the way she sounds! Oh well, back to my problem, lol...

One of the guys asked for a ride. Get in and try to start iher up... no go! Try again, and she starts then shuts off right away... Does that a couple times, then she starts, and stays on. Didn't go anywhere just stayed in the parking lot, didn't want her to die somewhere besides work.

I started playing withe the key, in the ignition, and noticed that when the key is in the run position, nothing happens? No guages, fuel pump doesn't prime, nothing that should happen... Try to start her and she starts just fine, let go of the key to let it roll out of the start position, and she shuts off.

Play with the key a little more... I descided to slowly roll it in to the start position, and shortly after the key gets in to the springy part of the start position, guages come on and the fuel pump primes. Start her up, and hold the key in the position that the guages came on and the fuel pupm primed at, and she stays running, let goe and she shuts off.

Now the other day I tried just lightly tapping on the steering column above the ignition, and then starting her up. She shut right off. Tried starting her again, except slowly rolling the key out of the start position, while pushing the key in at the same time. This time the key made it to the run position, with the car still on!

If I do that she'll stay on, but try to start her normal and let go of the key, and she shuts off. What could this be? Any ideas?! I'm hoping for a cheap easy fix, but I think I'm gonna get screwed in both departments!

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would say you need a new ignition switch.
