ignition problem

Ok, sometimes when i turn the key, nothing happens at all. the radio and all the lighting comes on but the motor will not do so much as click if i just sit and turn the key several times sometimes it will start, other times it will just sit there and do nothing. if it wont start for a long time (2-3 minutes) then i can sometimes get it to start by banging on the battery posts and shaking the battery around, but i think that has no correlation to what im doing, im just being lucky and looking like a jackass at the same time if anyone knows what to do, i would greatly appreciate it, and sorry if this has been brought up before, i didnt bother to do a search

Re: ignition problem

Sounds like either a bad starter or a vats problem. Next time it happens bang on the starter.
