If you have installed headers help me.

Alright i'm getting the jet hot lt's and i'm getting them with the o2 bungs already welded in them i was wondering if the egr gets plugged into the new lt's? or do they just not function anymore? Also i am wanting to buy a mandrel bent y-pipe to match up with the jet hot anybody know of one? another thing is where can i get some wire wrap to keep some wires from melting?? and lastly does anybody have any good detailed instructions on how to install lt's?? I also plan on giving it a tune up as i do this b/c i heard the plugs are ez to get to with the manifolds off. So if you have any advice on this subject help me b/c im relatively new to the board not to mention only 17 and am wanting to do this in my buddies garage. Is it possible to do it in a few days? sorry for the long post and thanks for the help

I can't answer your question abou the egr on the LT's. I put in shorties last week. A couple words of advise. Have a friend help you. I don't know how I could ever have done that without an extra set of hands. The driver side goes in pretty easy. Getting the passenger manifold off is a real pain. Be prepared for some issues... It seems that no set of headers is absolutely perfect.
I gave myself two days to put the headers in. We got everything done except mating the passenger side header extension up to the y-pipe. I had one loud ride into work Monday morning. I have no idea how many neighbors I woke up.
So good luck, keep cool, and the results will be worth it.

flp lt's are the only headers I know of that come with the egr and air fittings on them. You will have to remove the egr and get an egr block off plate to mate to the back of the intake. Your air pump won't work either so you will have to block that off or remove it. You can find some wire wrap at summit racing or jeggs. Mufflex sells a y-pipe that fits the hooker lt's that you have(those are the kind that jet hot sells). You can find a pretty good install at brent frankers web site at www.bfranker.badz28.com Hope this helps.

i just did the job this weekend for my first time!! it really wasnt all that bad. just take your time. its pretty obvious what has to be done once you start working. i took off all plugs, wires, starter, and y-pipe. then just basically remove all the bolts from the old manifolds and drop them out the bottom. its a bit tricky to get the new headers in, but just make sure you have the car high enough so you can get the right angle! just take your time and dont get frustrated!! i couldnt help you about the EGR stuff because the hookers came without, so i just removed all my AIR and EGR! if you have any questions let me know while its still fresh in my mind!! good luck!

I blocked off the opening on the back of my intake. When you removed the passenger side exhaust manifold the egr "pipe" will come off with it.

Not sure I can help you here, I went with true duals.

another thing is where can i get some wire wrap to keep some wires from melting??
I used Taylor firesleeve, you can get it from Summit.

lastly does anybody have any good detailed instructions on how to install lt's??
Brent Franker's site and the Street Illusions Racing site has some pics of the install.

The one thing I did that made my install easy when it came to the passenger side was to grind ever so slightly on the k-member so it would slip in. This in addtion to removing the starter and having the long bolt for the motor mount out(so I could jack that side of the motor up.)

if you get hookers, they will not have egr provisons so your system will not be connected to the headers anymore. you will not have a problem besides your SES light coming on. when ever you're looking for a pipe, i would recommend a pipe from Mufflex or Stainless Works. if you have a custom built y pipe, most likely it will rattle against the body, and it will turn out to be very annoying
