I won't settle for less than 400rwhp NA.......help me get there

Well..............long story short......in my room i have a 230/242 544/576 (1.6 RR's) nitrous cam. Its basically the CC306 I think. I want 400 rwhp from heads/cam. I will be spraying a wet shot (somewhere between 50-150hp, lol) but would like 400rwhp on tap all the time. I have been told that with my current cam and ported LT1 heads I will be in the 380rwhp range, or there abouts. Basically, can I get to 400rwhp with a bigger cam? I have a cam kit from combination motorsports with rockers, springs, etc, everything except lifters. Car is a 96 M6 Z28. I have been told I could do a solid roller setup, but can I get there with a hydraulic cam? Any input, advice, recommendations would be very helpful.

You're gonna need at least 30# injectors too. Dunno what kind of heads you have, that makes a HUGE difference.

FastWhiteTA had a cc305, 1.6rr's, hooker shorties, edelbrock exhaust, k&n cai, and no headwork, and put down 335rwhp/326ft-lbs (i think that's what he said). He now has LT's and should be looking at 345-350hp or so.

If your heads flow really well, you should hit 400 no problem w/ a cc306. I think 400 is attainable with a cc305 if it's tuned right and has really nice heads.

All in the heads...........I know what you mean, but what do you think I'd need to do for head work in order to hit that number? I am having a local guy (solid reputation) port my LT1 heads. I have all the supporting mods there, i.e. LT's, catback, CAI, TB, pulleys, etc etc.........all the bolt ons. I made a lil over 320rwhp at last dyno, no heads/cam with a pcmforless tune. However, it seems like it is very possible to hit 400rwhp with the cam I currently have? Or should I go 'bigger' to give me that little extra push? 30# injectors were already on my list, lol.

I'd say 255/188 @ .500 lift. Thats what mine flowed and to be honest, I was only hoping for 380rwhp with a 234/242 cam when I pulled onto the rollers. If you have your heads ported by Advanced Induction I'm sure you'll have no problem hitting 400+rwhp. As mentioned above, it all depends on the guys whos doing your heads. The cam helps a little bit though.

Waswa.

It's definitely possible. Remember Brent Franker, who hit 400rwhp with a Hotcam and ported LT1 heads?

hotcam and lt1 ported heads is tough, i've got great heads with the hot cam and only hit 381, however b/c the cam still runnin low tq. I have ported lt4 heads and hotcam, i suggest this aas well as the intake and a bigger cam, xe224/230 or xe230/236 or the cc306 great cams.

nuff said... good heads will get you there. I say get rid of the cam. Get some GOOD heads, get a custom grind at it to your heads... thats not needed, but if you got the coin, do it. good luck!

That's the only way to go. Throwing a shelf grind at a set of heads is hit and miss.

A shelf grind can be closely port matched with the heads by a GOOD porter (Lloyd ) A mid lift cam can be matched with higher mid lift numbers on the heads...etc.

i agree with the guys saying "get a custom grind"!!
sell that cam you have already and after you get some heads worked over, find someone (reputable) to spec a camshaft to match the rest of your combo and goals!
