i think poor idle, need some input

when i did all these mods to my car it starts idling real low, around 500. maybe 600, it idles fine around 900 when started cold. before i did the mods i ran the tank almost dry, well once id di and it started getting hard to start. i changed the fuel filter BTW. if i let the pump prime once or twice before i start it it starts fine. but if i just try to turn it on like i used to it wiont start. my questioon is this. did my cam bring the idle down? does everyone experience a decreased idle that has to be combated by tuning? and what cuiold be the cause of my no start if not letting prime?

well, you usually shouldn't have problems even if you don't let the system prime. running the tan low is extremely hard on the fuel pump. in case u didn't know, the in take fuel pumps rely on gas to cool them. therefore, no gas means no cooling for the pump.
on the idle, not sure if you did this or not, but most bigger cams require you to open up the tb more by adjusting the screw. this will allow the cam to breather better at idle. sometimes this is the cause, but i'm not sure since the XE224/230 isn't that big or anything. give it a shot.
