I have decided on my next motor....

Let me know what ya think. I haven't decided if I will put this setup on a stroker or stock stroke yet...

-forged rotating assembly
-4-bolt splayed caps
-h-beam rods
-12.5:1 compression
-clevitte h-series bearings
-LE3 heads
-custome grind cam from bret baeur
-superbly ported lt1 intake
-58mm TB
-hooker longtube super comps
-comp valvetrain
-1.66 rollers
-hardened pushrods

thats pretty much what I have going on in my head right now. I'm going to start getting parts together pretty soon. I can't really decide on what stroke I want to use though. I really don't know what I need. I figure that a stock stroke would give me more racing ability at extremely high speeds down the highway, but I think a stroker will get me out of the hole quicker. Am I correct?

Well, I guess there is still alot of deciding left to do. Basically, I'm not satisfied with the power I am making now (mods in sig) and I feel that I am getting very decent gas mileage, so its time to up the ante.

Sounds sweet! But I thought 12:1 was about the absolute most compression you could run safely on pump gas?

On a side note... If I could have a few months... maybe I could take your current long block off your hands

#1. How you going to get that compression?
#2. 1.66 rockers?
#3. Why forged when you don't need it?
#4. Who is going to build this?

We ain't done yet but this is a good start

Splayed caps, H beams, all forged just for LE3. That def looks overboard to me....if your gonna do all that think Nitrous, and in LARGE quanities. Otherwise you are wasting your money.

Re: I have decided on my next motor....

I meant 1.6 roller rockers. Possibly 1.52. Haven't decided. If its a 350, it will be spun pretty high.

12.5 is my compression goal. I will be building it with advising from my friend Dave (dhirocz).

I think I will need forged internals because I want to be able to run like a 300 shot of nitrous

To go with 300 shot nitrous you should slow the CR not to raise!

Why is 12.5 to 1 your goal? Not trying to call you out or anything...just curious.

Just want to make sure you didn't pick a number out of the air. As long as you have a plan, do what you want its your engine.

With that amount of spray you are definately going to want to look at your custom piston options as they can do anything you want to get you to your goal.

Nitrous loves compression, so whoever told you that you need to lower the compression to run it is just silly. I would however get a custom nitrous piston for that ratio or higher with a 300+ shot. If you are not really gonna spray that big of a shot, and you are just gonna run a single nozzle setup you still won't need that stout of a bottom end.

Re: I have decided on my next motor....

I want to run 12.5 because I believe this is the highest possibly i can go running on 93 octane with a custom grind cam.

My goal is to put down 500rwhp and break 10.90 on the 1/4 mile all motor. The reason I want to run 300 shot of nitrous is because I want to get down into the 9's, possibly 8's on top of that.

Could I run even more than a 300 shot?

I'm fairly new to this game. How much of a shortblock do I need for 500rwhp and 800rwhp on spray?

Re: I have decided on my next motor....

Is you current setup running and able to be driven right now? If it is then you should quit worring about building a high hp car and get the car able to hook up and get some good times. Im gona just run a 306 and stock heads on a forged bottom end while i save for an le3 and work on suspension and get some seat time at the track...then ill go with the higher hp and maybe some n2o.

Dont get me wrong though a 500rwhp car would be awsome. Do what ever you want and makes you happy...to each his own.

Re: I have decided on my next motor....

Seat time is not a n issue. I do need susupension work, but it can wait.

I want to spend the money on the motor while I've got the money.

Yes, my current motor is working, but I want to have a spare because I don't trust it. I did a heads/cam swap on it and noticed that there were loose head bolts and intake bolts. God knows whats wrong with the bottom end.
