An I run my LT1 with the Flexplate off?
#19
Well I ran it and found my leak. Oil was coming out of the crank bolt holes just like the Felpro directions stated. My rear seal was not leaking nor was my oil pan gasket. Felpro recommended using thread sealant on the flexplate bolts and that is what I did. It is all back together. I took it for a super short drive with the new 3400 stall and checked all the fluids. I was so tired I did not feel like doing more with it. Anyway, I will see tomorrow wiether that fixed the leak or not. I also replace the water pump seal. It was a long day. Hopefully no leaks in the morning.
I will say that just going down the block I had to rev the hell out of it to get the car to move. With my LT's and duals, my neighbors are going to really hate me now.

The paper that came with the Felpro rear main seal kit said that some chevy one piece rear main seal engines were drilled and tapped to far by GM causing oil to leak through the bolt holes. They said to use thread sealant on the bolts and not to replace the seal in this case.
I cleaned the hell out of the back of the engine and ran it to temp. I took the flexplate off and noticed fresh oil on three on my bolts. The seal remained dry. Go figure.
