A.i.r ??

I am looking at purchasing a camaro that had the AIR system removed. I need to have that installed to pass smog in my area.

What all was done in the !AIR mod?

What do I need to do to fix it and pass smog?

Thanks,
Sean

The AIR system is not the same on every year and you do not say what year you have.
Best bet would be a salvage yard to get all the parts you need (piping and fittings). When a lot of people remove it, they cut some of the pipes. You could also advertise in the parts wanted forum and maybe you would find someone that had removed theirs.

TB,
I am in the process of taking my A.I.R. system out of my 1987 IROC. I can ship this system to you if you want it. If you are willing to pay shipping on it, i'll send it along. BUT..

My bigger question is "WHY?" - your car will likely pass emissions without it, right? I have to pass emissions too, but the A.I.R. system has very little at all to deal with SMOG systems, it only runs the first 4 minutes until the car heats up. It's not needed for a 'sniff test'. The only way it matters if you get a visual check for AIR system... (And even then, somebody has to know what they are looking for).

SO, what do you think?

Brian

Man i woulda gave you mine for free + shipping but i've tossed it in the trash a long time ago during my header install. Shouldnt be too hard. Ask him if they removed the metal tube that runs from the exhaust manifold to the AIR pump. As long as its still there just buying the pump shuold be all you need. Installing it is a breeze.

just make sure the car isn't cold when it goes on the sniffer.

take a few WOT runs then throw it up.
the AIR system only works when its cold/startup anyway

Thanks for the tip about running it awhile before the test.

I just want it on there for visual. The car is clean enough, just CA smog people get very picky on the visual.
