I got my street twin today!!!

It looks awesome, i bought the entire assembly with steel flywheel and adjustable master cylinder. I looked at the directions and it seems that i will probably have a shop or a guy do it on the side. A FORD ase certified tech says he will do it for me for $250. Is this a good price?? I'm going to watch him do it and help out, just to make sure mu $1000 clutch doesn't get messed up . For $500 i can take it to an actual shop though where they will garantee the work, thats my only concern. Do it for cheaper and if the install is not good be outta luck, or pay more and get a garantee. What do you guys think???

PS I should change my sig to say
"street twin
mods: lt1 and camaro"

$250 does sound like a veyr good install price for a clutch. However if he Fs it up it could cost 3X that, plus a new clutch, to fix it.....be careful, you're the one who knows the guy not us!

I did mine myself, but I guess that doesn't answer your qurestion. If you watch him, I think that would be your "guarantee." You don't get to watch the other quys. Just my $.02

yes, i hear he does good work, and i'll be there. With the directions. I don't have a clue about clutches, and this guy installs centerforces in stangs all day long. Is this the same kinda thing, or does the street twin require any type of different installation being it's a fbody and a different kind of clutch setup???(he has mostly ford experience) Just wanted to make sure because he is the kinda guy that is like "give me your clutch, i'll slap it in in an hour" and doesn't bother with instructions, so i just wanted to know if the clutch install is a "straight forward" one like say on a fox body stang with a centerforce setup. Thanks

I do know it is what they call a reverse pull clutch. That means instead of the clutch fork pushing the splines, it actually pulls the splines via the throwout bearing that is implanted in the splines. This took me a few hours to figure out, cause on other clutches I have replaced they were "normal" Just make sure the fork comes out before you try to pull the trany, or you'll be fighting the splines all day long, and they will win!
