Question Hypertech Questions

Has Anyone Here Used That Hypertech Power Tuneriii
Is It Any Good? I Have A 1994 Z28 Auto. And Wanted To Lower The Fan Turn On Point And Try To Make The Car Faster, Will This Thing Really Do The Trick?

What Kinda Power Improvement Could I Expect To See?

Re: Hypertech Questions

I've used this before and it was good to lower the fan temp setting, changing shift points and firmness.
I didn't feel more power with it and doubt if it can give more power. You may get a few ponies from custom tuning.

Re: Hypertech Questions

The only gains you'll see in performance are if you combine a 160degF thermostat with the lower fan on/off temps. Dyno tests have show that is the only power gain out of the HPP. The "power tuning" has been shown to lose HP on some relatively stock setups.

The only thing its useful for are the items mentioned in the post above, plus rear axle gear changes, tire diameter changes, altering the rpm and top speed limiters, etc.

You could get the same results with a mail-order tune from one of the popular tuners who post on this board, and gain an additional 15HP with the tweeking they do to the PE mode (WOT) target A/F ratio.

Re: Hypertech Questions

Sweet, Thanks For The Replies :d

Is There Anyone Whom I Could Contact About The Reprogram?

Is It Alot Of Money, Im Only Planning On Doing Small Upgrades This Summer To My Car, Slp Cai, Headers, Straight Pipes, Gear Maybe Pulleys Too So I Wonder If Just The One Tune Would Be Good Enough?

What Do You Think, If Someone Would Like To Send Me A Pm With The Info Of The Tuner And How To Contact Them And Cost That Would Be Sweet.

Any Of Them In The Michigan Area?

Re: Hypertech Questions

For mail-order programming, the popular sources are madZ28 and pcmforless. You should be able to find both with a "search".
