What do you guys do with sensors that are no longer needed in your applications?

I am doing my engine removal for the new stroker and there are a bunch of sensors I have that I know I am not going to need anymore, such as the A/C sensors, the windshield wiper fluid bottle, etc...

Do you just electrical tape them and stick them somewhere in the engine bay, or can you actually cut the wires back towards the wiring harness and then electrical tape the remainder?

Unless you want the SES light on all the time, you should understand what the computer must see to "pass" the test for those sensors. Then find a way to provide the PCM with that type of signal. For example the AC system needs to see a particular voltage range, therefore a simple voltage divider with 2 resistors will work just fine.

I don't think the PCM cares about the windshield washer fluid level sensor.

I have a ton of unused connections... no IC module, no MAF, no coil, no AIR pump, no EGR solenoid, no EEC solenoid, no A/C, etc. I just wrapped the end with tape, and tied them all together where I could, pushing them out of sight. But its to a point where I'm giving serious thought to removing the wires each unused circuit from the harness. Should be worth a few # of weight reduction.

Fortunately I don't have to worry about the SES light, since the stock PCM only controls the IAC and speedo. Everything else is on a separte ECU.

So Injuneer, since I will still be running the stock ECU for everything, am I going to be in trouble with throwing codes? I am going to have Jordon Musser tune my car for me, so can he just delete out those codes like the EGR, AIR, etc...?

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as he removes them from the PCM.
