Hydrolocked Motor - Do I have a leg to stand on?
PROBLEM FOUND
Looks like the motor sucked up a small bolt (possibly the bolt that holds down my air cleaner box, we're not sure yet) and it ended up in the #7 cylinder. Somehow, it caused a head gasket to go and that's what caused it.
The good news is, because of having the forged parts, I have no bent rods, or broken piston parts.
However, I do need to replace that single #7 piston because of all the nicks and dings, resurface the head, and a valve job on that cylinder, but that's about it.
The same shop that did Mark Montalvo & Jason Short's motor is rebuilding it (they rebuilt it the first time too) so you know this thing is going to fly! They will be tearing it down, magnafluxing everything (just to be ultra sure everything is cool), and putting it back together in a few weeks.
I think what I'll end up doing is just stripping the car down to stock form and selling off all my parts though once I get the motor back. It will be a brand new motor at this point with less than 1000k on the entire rotating assembly. Fresh rings, etc. etc. My loss will definitely be someone else's gain.
I want to sell the motor complete too. Here's everything that will go with the motor:
1. 42lb. SVO injectors
2. ARP studded LT4 block (yes, it's a real LT4 block) machined and clearanced for 396ci setup.
3. Ported AFR 200cc heads (complete and race ready - I'll have them flowed too before they put it back together)
4. Comp Cams custom grind cam (Gross Valve Lift with 1.6 rockers = 575/600, Duration @.50 = 242/248, Lobe Sep. = 112)
5. Complete valve train (includes: Comp Cams Pro-Magnum 1.6 rockers guideplates & pushrods)
6. Polished aluminum ball milled taller style valve covers (SUPER NICE)
7. Ported LT4 intake manifold
8. 58mm Edelbrock TB
9. Custom set of Taylor over-the-valve cover wires with the Made-For-You wire looms.
EDIT(left out some of the important stuff!)
10. 4340 Forged Lunati stroker crank
11. Eagle 5.85 forged rods
12. Ross custom negative dome racing pistons
13. 7 qt. Canton LT1 road racing oil pan
14. Cloyes double roller timing chain
15. Meziere electric water pump (will include the actual pump as well so you won't have to modify and mess with your own since this one is done already)
P.S. Compression Ratio is 11.6:1 with these heads & pistons.
This way someone can benefit from not having to pay a shop a ton in labor to do all that machine work, porting, assembly, or having to buy all that misc. parts that add up quickly. I'm sure most of you can vouch for that statement.
I'm asking $7k (plus shipping) for everything I have listed but will entertain reasonable offers. I know for a fact you couldn't build one with all these components for less than $11k fully assembled and complete, ready to drop in your car. It will basically be a turn key motor aside from slapping on your accessories and hitting the road. I'm probably crazy for only asking $7k but oh well. First come first served.
Thanks for reading my babble and email me if interested in the motor etc. Be sure to put your CZ28.com screen name in the email so I know who you are.
Regards,
