HP advice for an LT1 Chevelle

Currently, I own a '72 Chevelle equipped with an LT1 and (uprgraded) 4L60E tranny, both pulled from a '95 Corvette. Its also equppied with a 12 bolt posi w/ 3.73 gears. Its got sufficient power, but I'm looking for more. I purchased a pair of LT4 heads a couple years ago with the intention of piecing together the LT4 conversion kit offered by GM. Then I came to this website and all the talk was about Lloyd Elliot, and it sparked my interest.
My goals for this car is for it to remain streetable but a sizable increase in HP. I only drive the car in the summer months (live in Iowa) and its never been to the track. I love torque, but my car already has a tough time hooking up, so more midrange power is probably more up my ally. I like a cam with a lopey tune to it, nothing too over the top, but noticable. I hate mustangs and ricers and I want the peace of mind that they don't stand a chance I haven't talked to Lloyd yet, but I'm leaning towards the LE1 cam. In an email he wrote to, he said "The heads can be ported and reassembled with matching springs for the cam we chose. We can reuse stock valves and get about 280-285 cfm from the heads ". How much HP/TQ can I expect with the LE1 cam and his porting service? Thanks!!

With LE or AI porting and matching cam, you can expect anywhere from 1.9-2.0 hp per peak cfm, depending on a lot of variables.

Oh yes, a expertly ported set of heads and a proven cam will really make it run.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a good tax return and to start putting a package together for it. Just wouldn't know what to expect from it.
