How's the durability of SLP's header coating?
I just got a new set of SLP coated headers. Does their coating hold up pretty well or should I consider having them recoated? I expect I'll get the y pipe coated anyway so it won't be such a big deal to have the headers done too if its necessary.
Re: How's the durability of SLP's header coating?
I think its Jethot coating but I could be wrong. Mine looked great after several years of running. The only place that took any wear was on the pass. side because of cold water from the AC dripping on the hot pipes... coating flaked pretty bad. But remember SLP is stainless so they still looked alright and didnt suffer from too much pitting/rust.
Re: How's the durability of SLP's header coating?
I bought a used set from a guy on the board. They look the same as they when I put them on. Tehy almost like they were new. I know he ran them for a while. I have had them about 2yrs..
Re: How's the durability of SLP's header coating?
Since this is not my thread, I will pose the question of "how does anyone polish their headers? Mine are ceramic coated and only require occasional buffing with polish---but just looking at them in the engine bay tells me that it's damn near impossible to polish them-----anybody?
I believe the question is relevant since chrome finish ceramic coatings aren't as heat resistant as black ones, so why would someone opt for the chrome type unless they were able to polish the suckers?
Just curious.
