How to tune speed density?

I do most of the work on my car but I think since I got my headers, it might get better #s if I tuned it for the headers. I know the 94+ just use the hypertech or something like it but how do you mess with the air/fuel and such with my 93? Do I just need to dyno tune it? I did a quick search and came up empty. Any info would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

I would try contacting PCMforless.com. They can burn you a chip. But in my honest opinion I do not think you will pick up much with your setup.

Another vote for minimal gains with tuning. You would need tuning if you'd installed a cam or swapped the heads.

Actually, with a speed-density 93, the system is not able to compensate for changes as well as the later mass-air setups. When you improve the air intake, or exhaust, you improve the volumetric efficiency... the amount of air that actually gets into cylinder. In speed-density, to compensate, you need to adjust the volumtric efficiency (VE) tables. In mass-air, the improved air flow is directly measured by the MAF sensor, so no tuning is needed. You can benefit a lot more from tuning on a speed-density control system than you would with a mass-air system.

I believe you can get a burner for the 93 chips, but it might be a bit expensive. You would have to adjust the VE tables to correct for the improved breathing. So a mail order program might be an alternative, and you might see some small improvement. Hard call on whether it is worth the $$$. Probably marginal until you make some more mods.

I gained .16 tenths from a fastchip (www.fastchip.com) when I had a CAI, exhaust, and no cat. It was their Stage II chip.

I have a 93 LT1.
