How to take off the bolts off the Harmonic Balancer
How to take off the bolts off the Harmonic Balancer
When ever I try and turn the ratchet to take a bolt off, the whole balancer moves. It's probably pretty easy but for some reason I'm stuck.
Thanks people.

Re: How to take off the bolts off the Harmonic Balancer
I put the car in 1st, put the parking break on, left the belt on and held the pulley with my spare hand while turning the bolt with the longest wrench you can find. Some penetrating oil will help a great deal.
make sure to disconnect the negative wire from your battery
also, make sure to notice which way the pulley is facing when you take it off, just incase your hub is not marked

Re: How to take off the bolts off the Harmonic Balancer
I use two wrenches one on the bolt I'm removing and the other on a different damper bolt when I am on the last damper bolt I use the hub bolt as my anchor. I also try to use leverage to my advantage IE I remove a bolt on the passenger side of the hub by pulling straight up across the damper. Don't worry about marking the hub there is an molded TDC mark on it and the damper will only fit the hub one way.
I have removed and replaced LT1 hubs four or five times in the last couple of weeks, and it gets easier each time.
