Z95m6 i agree with you, nice triple post btw.
if you put a set of et streets on an m6 it and launch it hard, you will break the rearend quickly even on a bone stock motor 250rwhp

hp doesnt break rearends, traction does.

i have read about ppl breaking it with stock M6 and drag radials on the street.

I love my 10 bolt 1.601 60ft times and still pullin the wheel But I dont think it will last forever There are a few A4 guys running Low 1.6 and mid 1.5's on the 10 bolt. You 6 speed guys are out of luck

IMO I dont think traction is what really breaks the rearend I think it is more the the shock it gets if you have a M6 from the slack. Reason I think this is my 91 Camaro RS 305 TBI went threw them like nothing (spec stage 3) A hard hitting clutch will kill a rearend real quick.

Maybe one day the 12bolt will come out to the camaro and go into my TA

Ditto! A4's are a LOT easier on the drive train than a manual. I had 600+ passes on my 10 bolt with 4.10's and my combo before the ring gear broke. I know guys putting down 400-450 RWHP and pulling 1.5-1.6 60's and not breaking the 10 bolt. BUT they're all automatics

I'm pretty sure you can put over 1000hp through a 10-bolt rear end. Just make sure its from a 60mph roll with street tires.

With 327rwhp, I made over 200 passes last year with 4.10s and drag radials in an M6, mostly with 1.8x 60fts. Never had any trouble. then I was doing donut one day in a parking lot with street tires and broke my pinion gears.

Now with 412rwhp, I've made about 50 passes with 4.11s with alot of 1.8 60fts. No problem so far.

I know Mike Hoffpauir ran:
Best E.T. 10.98@121.44_ 1.45 60'_ 12/6/02
________________ Race Weight 3300lbs

This is with untouched heads N/A A4. Although this is an LS1. Not sure on power because mikes car was never dyno tuned.

Its a crap shoot man. Some people can make it into the 10's and some people break them with a stock car.

Will you break your 10 bolt?
*shakes mighty eight ball*
My sources say yes!

knock on wood. I have been dragging my T/A for over 3yes. and never broke the rear yet. I dynoed 450rwhp and 500ftlbs. on a 150shot of N2o and have pulled 1.5 60's with the driver tire almost a foot off the ground with 0 problems. The only thing that ever happened is the posi peglegged after 140k miles so I put in a $100 SLP unit and it's still kickin. I am going to build a Ford 8.8 rear for when this one decides to crap out and I want to put over 500rwhp thru it. These are my own experiences. Autos rule

Thanks for the replys guys...

I used to have a 383 on a 225 shot and never broke a rear end....
But, I never really had a good clutch either tough...

Now I have a 12:1 355 on a 200 shot with a spec stage 3 carbon, and I broke the rear end on the 2nd pass.....I didn't even launch hard, I was on the street, not even at the track.

Of course I am running ET Streets. Maybe DR's is the way to go....

What do you guys think?

Moser has what you need or put in a stock clutch! its not really the power that breaks it! Its that "SPEC STAGE III" As said before I broke 3 10bolts with my 305 tbi 260 flywheel hp!
