and Hooker LT's, Lt4km, 1.6 rr's, comp 987 valve springs, electric water pump, port-matched intake, slightly ported heads (maybe 15-20cfm extra), moroso cai, forged bottom end w/ross 90450 pistons, eagle 6" i-beams (keep in mind, its a 355), balanced, spec stage III clutch, M6, and 10-bolt w/4.10's and summit girdle cover. Also, x-pipe with no cats and dual dynomax bullits.
How much rwhp will i make with an 847 with this setup? How high can I spin it?

Re: How much HP w/gm847?........
I HIGHLY suggest you get LE3 heads and a custom LE2 cam man. Much better than the gm 847 and cc 306! Get your heads from Lloyd Elliot!!! This combo along with:
3.73's or higher
3200+ stall
30 or 36# injectors
GOOD TUNE
LT's
FULL EXHAUST
and all the necessary parts for the change will give you 400-425 RWHP.

He does have a point about having your combo needing to be a matching setup and I also agree that Lloyd's heads seem to be excellent.
In my opinion (for what its worth), it seems to me that the only thing lacking in your setup is your heads and that may really limit your HP. An excellent set of heads can really bring you car to life when all else remains equal.
I noticed that you have plans for AFR 220 down the road so if the heads that you speak of now are just to tide you over until you get the 220's then I think you are in the right ball park.
As far as a number for your setup...I really can't imagine that you would see less than 375 and could possibly approach 400 HP but a lot of things come into play when your estimating HP.
As far as RPM range, discuss that with your builder. For the 383 short block I'm getting setup, I was told that I could spin it to 7000 RPM with out a problem. I have been told that when a forged rotating assembly is setup correctly the limiting factor is block integrity not the rotating assembly.
Again...not expert just repeating what I have read and been told by my builder.
Good luck on your project.
Jeff

Re: How much HP w/gm847?........
There is no way I could possibly afford LE right now. The only reason I'm changing cams is because I broke some valve springs (The guy that built me the motor put stock springs in with the cc305 and 1.6 rr's and 250 shot of NOS)
. I I figured while I have everything apart, I want this cam. Like I said, no way I can afford LE.
Were you guys saying I need an LE setup because it seems like the rest of my setup is primed for it?
And were you saying that I could see 375rwhp with the stock heads or with AFR heads?
And btw, I decided not to get AFR. I'm going to get some 18 degree heads and a huge cam. I'm looking to get around 700hp.

Just remember that the rule of thumb for most engines is to spray 50% of your NA HP. 500 HP engine can be sprayed with a 250 shot. I have to admit that I don't have experience with this number but Injuneer has mentioned this quite a few times.

Re: How much HP w/gm847?........
I assume you guys were talking about 375rwhp.
As far as spraying goes, I read up and found out that my ross 90450 pistons are only good for a 150 shot.

he has a GM847 with stock heads and all the bolt ons. Nearly 360 RWHP with stock heads. You could probably top that figure by at least 20 considering you have the stock 10 bolt and he has a 12 bolt.
HERE is his dyno sheet.
