I was discussing with someone on another message board, and he said the LT1 blocks were weak after 1100 HP. Is it just the material? Would the block's durability be increased much if it was cryogenically treated?

 

Baxter made 1,125HP on a straight 4-bolt factory block. Madman claimed 1,200HP. Both those were blower motors, meaning they were making maybe upwards of 1,250 - 1,300 at the crankshaft. I know George's block was in fair condition when it was torn down, and is being reused by someone in an 1,100HP nitrous setup. I know that block was not cryo'd. And I know it did not use any block fill. I also know they wouldn't push it any further, and switched to a Dart Iron Eagle block for the next iteration of the 30th SS convertible......
